A Regency mahogany hall chair, c1815.  In very good used condition.

Dimensions:

According to the Miller's antiques guide, hall chairs were introduced in Britain in the late 17thC. They were designed to be placed in the entrance hall or passageway where they would be used mainly by tradesmen or tenants, waiting to be called into one of the main rooms. Consequently they were not upholstered and lacked arms.  Very decorative, they were nevertheless the "waiting room" chairs of their era.
